About me

Early on in my life I discovered that my true passion is making films. After making a lot of short movies with a friend, I gradually became more serious about it and started looking for a suitable filmmaking course.

At this point, I also started writing scripts for several short films. After finishing secondary school in 2007 I enrolled in Audiovisual Design (Audiovisuele Vormgeving) at the art college AKV | St. Joost in Breda, the Netherlands. The first year in art college was a foundation year, during which we practised all disciplines the college had to offer such as painting, sculpting and filmmaking.

During the second year, I discovered that St. Joost offered far more on making documentaries than it did on making fiction films. Although I like documentary, my true passion is telling stories. So halfway through the second year, I felt the need to move on. I left art college, and enrolled in the BA Media and Culture course at the University of Amsterdam in September 2009. After my bachelor I would really like to do a masters in film, preferably in England or the United States.

I am constantly seeking to learn more about films and making them. That could be hands-on, joining up with friends to make a short (for instance for the 48 hour film project), or volunteering for great festivals such as The Screenwriters' Festival. Next to that I read any book about the film world I can get my hands on (including The Writer's Journey, The Guerilla Filmmakers Handbook and Kill Your Darlings) and of course I also just love to watch movies!
